Let it be known that I am really, sincerely, from the b ottom of my heart, unimpressed... nay, Im disgusted.

I JUST had the pleasure of introducing her, hosting her at City Walk. Yes, I was the emcee. My job, keep the crowd building...pumped... thrilled to see this ... ummm singer..after she hit eighteen number one singles. She has bypassed elvis. Which, in his defense, he hasnt been putting em out like he used to...

But she is approaching Beatle status... which... in their defense... yeah, not many either recently.

But, my gripe with Mariah Careless ?

Well, the crowd was pumped at four.... and ready to go. Some of them had been there since midnight. One even drove from oregon to be there... And the crowd was also still going strong at six when she was scheduled to hit the stage. Which, meant, she would say "hi...."

However... at 8:30, when she FINALLY sauntered out amidst her "entourage"... they were kind of fed up.

And, then... a guy in a blue serge striped suit coat over an orange t shirt started flailing his arms in my direction as though I could understand sycophant ....apparently he didnt think I was keeping the crowd pumped enough while she was strolling in to her tune " touch my baldy" or whatever it was blaring thru the speakers.... Maybe he had already gone deaf due to the fact the audience had been booing her during the final hour of waiting patiently for her majesty to appear....

miffed ? Not until blue serge tried to give me the stink eye....

Geeeshh... you can almost hear the ticking of the second meltdown counter tracking the time...

Thanks Mariah... you made thousands of peoples day... literally, cause lor knows they had nothing else to do...

If you haven't heard.... google " Cheney, sunglasses" and you will see the latest flap on the reflection in Cheney's glasses. He should be fly fishing. Yet, a reflection in his glasses makes it seem he has a naked woman in front of him. My comment? Seriously, as a semi-professional photographer, having even worked for a few newspapers, if Cheney were that close to a naked woman, I think I would have decided to catch the entire image as opposed to hope the refection in the glasses covers the event. Do you realize how much money the Globe would pay for THAT shot ??

Pasadena Art Weekend....

Every year, twice a year, Pasadena opens up its art museums and similar venues for an evening of free browsing. This past Friday was one of those nights. In typical fashion, I decided to attend.

Boston Court Theatre was my venue of choice. Live entertainment: A hand percussionist. A doo wop group. An Appalachian style trio. All very good.

However, I also visited a few galleries and was, as always, amazed at what people can call art. A few sticks, some glue, a newspaper or two, staple it to the wall and you've got a hanging. Put a note with a name on it beside it and call it "art".

There was one installment that did surprise me. The reflecting pool in front of Pasadena City College. They repeated a previous art project of floating origami boats with lit candles on them. It was very interesting. Unfortunately, towards the end of the evening the boats had all clustered into a corner of the pool and were gradually bursting into balls of flame.

On that side of the pool, what appeared to be students, were desperately trying to put out the boats before they all turned into floating bits of charred candle remnants.

It made me sad.

The burning boats appeared to me to be more "art" than most of the exhibits I had seen that night and it was happening before our eyes. A statement was being made. Isn't that what art is ?

I just watched a news story on South Pasadena. A local high school student has started a "no cuss week" in the city. He is tired of obscenities. I have to agree, but, he kind of lost me when the anchor asked him why he did it.

"Well," he replied, " like, we have this like huge vocabulary, why not use those words."

Let me set the mood:
It's raining. I love rain...it makes me feel great.
I just finished a couple of really successful hypnosis sessions where the clients were complimentary and said things like, "I've never thought of things like that before."
I like that response.One of the sessions was helping with insomnia. One of my favorite issues to deal with. I'm pretty successful at helping people sleep... take that as you may.

But, it is the type of day when while I'm driving in the car, rather than listening to talk radio, I crank up a rock station. And this made me laugh.

The song that was playing was La Bamba.

It took me back at least seventeen years. I was emceeing and performing at The Oldenberg Brewery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. A lot of great things happened there. It was our New Years eve show and the place was packed. We were doing an extra show and trying to come up with songs to pump up the crowd. The band was amazing, they could play anything. Someone suggested - La Bamba. It was big that year and we knew the crowd would love it. However, we had never rehearsed it. Not one note. But, I, being the comic in the show, suggested we play it anyway, and I would fake the Spanish portions. I knew I could at least get thru the song , and also knew the crowd was relatively drunk, and, possibly free of Spanish speaking individuals.

So, we did the song. I know it's one of those " ya had to be there moments. " But ,yes...

We did La Bamba. I know the lyrics arent " la freechiemeo ben a deedo nacho la ditto manee a chia wowa" But, I bet they sounded like that that night. We did it. The crowd loved it. And, no one said a word to us later.

There is a Subway restaurant not too far from my house. I like Subway. However, there is a new employee that causes me to cringe internally everytime I realize that she will be my" Sandwich Artist." The following is a transcript ... of my recent visit. ( okay. to the best of my recollection...)

So, I stumbled across " The Apprentice" tonight. Literally for about ten minutes. In the midst of this breakdown of a project one of the cast turns to Stephen Baldwin and says, " You're a Christian, Christians aren't supposed to do that."

I'm always amazed by that sort of comment. No one even flinched.

And, I suppose it is fine.

But, it makes me wonder what people who make that comment think Christians are.

Yes. We are perfect. HA ! Right.

As far as I know, Christians try to follow the words of Christ. They believe Christ to be the Son of God and our Saviour. I know. I call myself a Christian. I am a Christian. I make mistakes. I do things I shouldn't. So, I pray for guidance. There's more, but, I like brief entries.

But can you imagine what might have happened if someone had said to someone else in the cast, " Hey, you're a Jewish person. Jewish people aren't supposed to do that."
"Hey, you're a woman, woman don't do that." Or any other form of racism, sexism, or religious persecution.

I'd like to say what I really think.... but... I'm a Christian and I am not supposed to. Nor should I end a sentence with a preposition.

Tonight, I dined at a new restaurant that recently opened. I've enjoyed the chain . Panera Bread.
I sat down and awaited my food. It arrived and looked good. However, it's a sandwich and its falling apart. So, I figured.. I could use silverware. As my food deliverer walks away I ask him where the silverware is. He replies, "What do you need?"
Of course, this question took me back. There are really only three items usually used. Is it too much to carry all of the usual implements over ? It's a restaurant. They usually give the option of all of them.

I clumsily answered, " A fork."

I wish now I had had the presence of mind to ask for two forks. Just because.

I am way out of the demographic, but, I enjoy professional wrestling. I just do. Those guys put on a great show almost 365 days a year. They get hurt, they get bloody, and they keep doing it.
I love WWE..... probably always will.
Durn glad to see them playing with the DX angle again. Triple H and HBK just seem to have a good time. That's it. Plain and simple.

WOOOOOO HOOOOOO.... every week or so this really stupid telemarketing company calls me. Seriously, sometimes as many as three times a week.

" Hello Daveed. Congratualteens you habe won a prize from Monarch Marketing"

Now, I could put my name on a list and say "no calls" but, there is a certain amoung of joy I get out of screwing with these people. Monarch though has gone above and beyond. I'v eput them on hold while I made dinner. I have played sound track files of construction going on in my house...so loud...that I was able to yell at them over the phone. I have had the operators spell out everything they were saying due to bad connections. I have screamed " FINALLY, IM A WINNER!!" Upon there first statement and dropped the phone to disconnect me...on an on and on and on... ad nauseum... seriously. It's amazing.

Today... I figured out the magic phrase....

I tell them I make UNDER 50 grand a year....

He politely said...my confirmation of prized would be in the mail... no time share pitch..no " but...but ...but..." Just.. " Really ? "

and then... kind of a " ummmm gotta go " speech.

Hmmmm...Arrrggghhh....sigh.... ahem....aaaiieeeyyyaaahhhh. These are a few of my favorite e-sounds.

One of the things that aren't my favorite e-things, is internet dating. Yes, internet dating.

Here is how it goes LATELY.

I see someone that matches pretty much what I look for, for a future mate. Yes, a future mate. We pay 20-30 dollars to be on the durn site, I'm not on-line for serial dating. If I wanted to just date randomly, I would do that. I am dating on-line to cut out a lot of that crap you find out about a person on the first date... i.e. " Ummmm wow, you're a Wiccan." Nice. I have nothing against Wiccans. On the whole, usually very nice people. Not future mate material however.

So... I am on-line looking for " her".

So...... I email. One in fifty responds. Fifty takes me about three months, or more. I am somewhat picky. There are a LOT of people on-line. So.... now... if she responds, I have hope. Sometimes, we go for about a week of emails. Then occasionally , we meet.

Sometimes, I lose them via email..for reasons I never understand.

THEN.... let me step back.... WE MEET.

Now, meeting is a chore sometimes. From time to time, you can immediately think, "Nope, not the one." But, sometimes...very rarely... you both look at each other and there is a ... not a spark....too early for a spark.... but a ummmm, glint.

a tiny tiny glint. I wish I knew what made those glints, but still no clue.

Even better, she seems to be interested.

Lets recap. 1 email response after three months of trying. One meet out of three tries... ( thats a few more months ) and then voila... maybe a "glint"

Now ya see, glints make me happy. And, if they respond in kind, then I tend to proceed.

And here is where I screw up. I think.

If two people are interested in each other.... DON'T THEY TRY TO KEEP IN TOUCH ?? DON'T THEY TRY TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT EACH OTHER ???

I just had a "glint" respond positively... say she was interested...even did the.." Im out of town next week, but lets get together next week.." ....things. Then disappeared.

When someone stops emailing, as emailing is safer.... and less intrusive, you are stuck with two options. One: don't email let it run its course. tick ..tick...tick....

or two: Email her and say, "Hey, you okay ?"

no response......

no response....

then.. she wrote... " yeah.. but life is busy." That would be fine... there is no interest. BUT THEN !! She adds.... " next week"....

when you get nothing after that... if you email... the following week....

she responds with....

" you are trying to hard... Im not interested."

It must be me...but I can't figure out why...why.... if they are on a site...they don't want to connect.....

It is now ..as I said..insane. I have gained yet another evening of work. It is non-ending and with a busy summer like this, of course, I start it out getting slightly ill. Allergies. Doesn't help that I am yet again allergic to my cat. The same cat that tends to sleep on my face. This is not good. It's killing me and today I step on a plane. Arrgghh. So my head will explode I am sure..

Okay, so as predicted work has become insane, and it my not go as well as hoped.
The schedules should mesh, but the prep time isnt doing as well. The shows are great, but rehearsal isnt or rather wasn't planned. Overlapping schedules arent working in my favor and I hope it doesnt blow the whole deal..time will tell. I am however planning a great vacation at the end of summer in the lovely state of Maine. I just want to lay back a bit and unwind, cause right now, I'm getting pretty wound. Trying to remember to occassionally zen out and relax, but , it doesnt always work out...the trick ..actually the important thing to remember is, you have to.
So..I will. Or perhaps explode. ;-)

So, here is where it stands. Insanity. Pure and simple. I am in Pasadena, Texas. I am beating on trashcans with two guys, one is new to the group, one, not having worked with us for years. And, I am planning a trip to New York whil I am here to put the show in up there. I am in the midst of rehearsals for a show I have done before at Disney and awaiting news of what will happen to me in the show at Universal. I am also hosting a show two days a week on Citiwalk, and acquired a new job of columnist at a local paper. On Friday and Saturday.. my days "off" ..I will be at Universal Studios talking about movies during the day...then at night, emceeing on citwalk ...My drum shows continue to tour, and a summer show at a NY theme park...How cool is that.. ? Sue Lawrence from Scotsman.com reminds us that for hundreds of years, petals and whole flowers have been used in the kitchen. The Romans added lavender to honey and used marigolds for their colour and flavour. I've seen recipes contain nasturtiums, borage and lavender. But before you just start cooking away, please, make sure that the flowers are unsprayed, then carefully expel any wildlife by giving them a good shake or a wipe with kitchen paper Probably the most versatile edible flower is the nasturtium. Shred its young leaves into salads or add them to sandwiches with cream cheese. Snip off the whole flowers from the stems and add them to vegetables, fish or pasta. Their pungent, peppery taste is also the perfect match for mild-tasting ingredients such as avocados. Scotherbs (www.scotherbs.co.uk) sells edible flowers as well as fresh pestos and salsas

Here's a great dish ! NASTURTIUM AND AVOCADO TAGLIATELLE . Serves four 350g dried tagliatelle olive oil 2 ripe avocados, peeled and stoned juice of 1 large lime 2 tbsp crème fraîche 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 20 nasturtium flowers Cook the tagliatelle and drain thoroughly. Pour in a good drizzle of olive oil, add some salt and pepper and toss through. While the pasta is cooking, chop the avocados and place in a food processor with the lime juice, crème fraîche and cayenne pepper. Blend well, then season to taste. While the pasta is still piping hot, toss the avocado mixture with the pasta. Add most of the flowers, reserving the best for a garnish, and toss the pasta again, until thoroughly mixed. Serve at once, sprinkling with the remaining nasturtiums. CARROT CAKE WITH THYME FLOWERS This is my adaptation of the famous carrot cake at Cape Town’s Mount Nelson Hotel. For the cake 4 large free-range eggs 400g golden caster sugar 175ml sunflower oil 250g self-raising flour, sifted 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda 1 tsp ground cinnamon 450g grated carrots (peeled weight) 90g chopped walnuts For the frosting 200g light cream cheese 50g butter, softened 3 tsp orange flower water 100g golden caster sugar handful of thyme flowers Whip the eggs and sugar until pale and creamy, then slowly add the oil (on low speed if using a mixer). Fold in the flour, bicarbonate of soda, a pinch of salt and the cinnamon, then fold in the carrot and nuts. Once combined, tip the mixture into a deep 24cm springform cake tin (buttered) and bake in a preheated oven (180¼C/350¼F/gas 4) for an hour and 15 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. Cover loosely with foil for the last 20 minutes or so. Place the cake on a wire rack and release the sides of the tin. Leave it to cool completely before placing on a serving plate. Beat the cream cheese and butter together and then beat in the flower water and sugar. Once the mixture is smooth, spread it over the cake and decorate with thyme flowers.

So much happening, in a very small amount of time, and yet...still dealing with so little cash.

So many of my drummers are busy this time of year, it got down to the wire...so I am sure that's gonna cost a pretty penny on air fair. I am meeting with a publisher next Wednesday, so I am putting my photo portfolio together, and that's interesting in and of itself. I have a drum show that is going to New York for the summer and, that plan is very odd, but I've decided to relax until the client makes his move, but we are almost suited up for that. I go into rehearsals for my summer gig in less than a week, and, just picked up another gig on my days off for the summer...so how is it I am broke ? lol... rains it pours... etc etc...

Someone really needs to make some changes. On top of the usual gigs that I pull down, I occasionally become a substitute teacher. Yes. I teach children. Now, just in case certain people stumble across this site, I can't be too specific, but, holy cow, children in the district in which I sub are getting away with murder. Possibly literally. Disrespectful, loud, obnoxious. Now, I'm not talking your typical evil child stuff... cause Lord knows I gave my subs a hard time, but, I have literally had my life threatened. One girl today came back in the room after school and made movements that appeared to be an attempt to physically threaten me. She was in sixth grade ! And, she brought a friend. This is not the first time I have been approached in such a manner. I even had a KID tell me that the school was "ghetto." He explained that if they didn't like teachers or subs, they would "key" the cars, follow the teachers home, hurt them, kidnap them etc. The administration is even aware of the problem. You can watch the security patrol the halls and nail kids. I can't even go into how obvious it is that the have dealt with these kids before....

Mom .. Dad... teach your kids respect. It's not too late. Before the get hurt or due time... seriously, do SOMETHING. And, please tell them to leave the IPods and PSP's at home... yeah.. it's a little bit of a distraction.

And now this... I can tell the bad kids by using Fish finders and they should all buy me mothers day gifts because as a teacher, I'm quite a mother. But don't ask me ask an Orlando Realtor

The trouble with me taking a day off, is that it means, in about a week, almost exactly, I come up short in cash. My new fill job is driving me nuts as , well, it pays once a month. As a freelancer, I am usually paid almost immediately. I have signed a contract that pretty much excludes me from pursuing a lot of work right now, so that is maddening. On the plus side, I have signed a contract. When it rains it pours. My art is getting more interesting, as at least during my days off I am able to explore more opportunities with that. SO, that in itself is amusing. And, I continue to make money where I can. Trashcandrummers.com has been updated. Youregettingsleepy.com has not...so much.
But in typical april fools day fashion, I am considering wedding reception ideas . But, seriously don't forget Mom... send some Mothers Day Flowers

For those of you that know me, know that I love watching professional wrestling. I have a friend whose brother is a ref for them, I work at Universal where Ivory hails from and, I had the opportunity to meet several of them throughout my life. So, I am always kind of thrilled in a sort of childlike way..... when... I get to meet them and WORK with them. This Wednesday, was just such a day. Chris " The Masterpiece" Masters, and, Cover of Playboy this month, Candice Michelle. It was awesome. Though I have yet to receive any proof of me WITH them from my many photographer friends... I have pics I took of them myself. Both of them totally fun to work with, and apparently I came within inches of being placedin the Masterlock.... which no doubt ..would have killed me....

Tune into Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC... check your local listings for times....and watch these two superstars doing what they do best.

What an amazingly interesting day. I have mentioned craigslist on this site before. I love it. I use it all the time. This morning I saw I had the opportunity to have dinner with a group of singles. So, I took the chance. Unfortunately, work went long and I still had the near midnight play to go too... so I tried to cancel out... and couldn't. Or, was strongly advised not to.. so I didn't.
So I had four shows in the morning... four long shows for very good audiences. Hoped in my car and floored it to Pasadena. I went to the singles get together. The Raymond Restaurant. Good food. Great atmosphere...and three single women... and ..supposedly three single men. ...Supposedly... I showed up on time. About ten minutes later..guy two appears... and... three lovely women. A great time. ( the women were there even before me... )
Dinner was rushed... but I had a great time... and ..who knows...
then I hoped back into my car off to the play...

its now 130 am... so I am not making much sense... maybe I'll edit this later...
back to work tomorrow...

Well, this posting is a little out of order, but, another blind date last night.
And here is the rub.. ( I'll avoid the obvious joke here )
She was an attractive girl. A smart girl. Able to handle conversation and humor. She was fun to be with and I am assuming she felt she had a good time with me. The problem ? Nothing. Nothing. No feeling. No zing. No over powering attraction. Sometimes it happens. Sometimes you sit there and say...no way. This was not one of those times. It was just nothing. So, back to match.com. And, I am starting to realize it is the same people. The same women have been there for a very long time. Any suggestions ? I am open to them. I am also open to blind dates if you are, or know someone. ;-)

I'll even date malpractice lawyers or even a bextra lawyer .
I'd even date a group of new york lawyers that deal with medical malpractice

I wish I could post a picture but alas, there were no cameras allowed in the annual stock holders meeting of the Disney Company. Yup, that's where I was at eight o'clock A.M., this morning. Yikes. Sitting next to one of the most insane women I have seen in public in quite sometime. And she had the odor of Beemans gum around her. Ya know ? That candy smell that smells a bit like wax lips. Very odd. But no where near as odd as her need to comment on EVERYTHING being said and shown. I made the mistake of clapping when Narnia flashed on screen. And the mention of Narnia two. She then assumed I had something "to do " with the film. In order to end the conversation I lied. I said I was involved in publicity. She let that go. Not unlike saying you sell life insurance. To tell her I applauded because I liked the movie and C.S. Lewis and his turn to Christianity, would have opened up a can of conversation I had no desire to deal with.
But, needless to say, the corporate steamroller that is known as Disney is revving up the engines and it looks like a good year for stock holders. You're either a part of the roller or a part of the road. And, now I am exhausted. I had little sleep last night. Early morning. Late night coming...and trying to decide if I want to be part of the Pasadena festivities known as Art Night. I'll do a part of it... but I've got a late play tonight to get thru....

There is excitement brewing. The signing of a good summer contract and the hope of additional work at the same time is making me somewhat happy as the money will help. Right now a sort of financial drought... primarily due to the extortion I undergo as a member of the world's worst union on the planet... AGVA... seriously, a ridiculous reason to pay an absolutely pointless union...and I am being forced to have to be a member...
Anyone care to explain that ? And... if youre not a member of AGVA, it will be pointless...as pointless as the union itself. Some unions, I suppose have a reason... this one doesnt.
and so it goes,...
But hopefully after my windfall of cash this summer...truly hoping that happens...I will once again revive my practice as a hypnotherapist. All I need is to print up a few business cards and find Office Room Reception Chairs I'll let ya know as it happens.

I can't even begin to tell you how exciting my life has been lately. Non-stop. I wrapped a film this weekend. Did some pick up shots the other night, and now I've signed a few contracts for some upcoming gigs.
My union... or as I refer to them, the extortion group known as AGVA is of course completely pointless. Rats that they are , are asking for dues yet again and making sure I have a work stoppage until it is paid. If you would like to argue the fine points of union work, feel free, but until you know agva, please don't attempt trying to sing the praises of union work to me. I won't stand for it. Currently I am reading a lovely book the Linda Ellerbee and ..its autographed with a personal note to me... ahhh my high school crush is actually currently at a one degree seperation. Go figure. And so it goes....

hey, ya know I actually make money with this blog, I really do... and if you are curious about how you can make money blogging you should follow the link. It's pretty cool.

Oh yeah, and in regards to the title... subteaching. Another joyous way to make cash. It's like sticking a sharp stick in your eye, without all the props. But hey, if there is no other money coming in on a day, why not? And, so far, no casualties. Which is a good thing.

Self Destructive.

Okay, so twice within the last month or so, I have caused the downfall of potential relationships. And, I am a slow learner. However, this time, I think it will stick.
Here is the basic information. I am attracted to an unusual kind of woman. I can't even put my finger on what it is that attracts me to them... actually technically speaking I probably shouldn't put any part of me against what attracts me to them. But, in all seriousness, I don't know for sure what it is that draws me. But, I do know it is rare to find. Here is what I look for : Shorter than me. That's a given. They have to be under five foot six. Secondly, I am very drawn to red-heads, but the last two have been blondes. I love intelligence, and a sense of humor. Both of which the ex-wife seemed to lack oddly enough. But, there is something. That undefineable "X" factor.
Well, I don't date often, but the last two women, both had the "x" factor and I was almost immediately attracted to them.

The problem is, when I am attracted, I know that the " breed " is rare, and I get carried away quickly.

The problem in both situations is too quick to kiss. Or, perhaps even kissing to passionately way too soon. Usually mid-kiss I realize I've done it. Well, okay, the first of these two women, I wasn't given such self awareness noting. Because, it was a mutual kiss. However, the latter of the two blondes caused every alarm in my head to go off. But...and this is a big but... ( which she didn't have ) She initiated the kiss. Yes, she leaned in. But, I got carried away. Yet again. I even knew it after the fact. Granted, not during, but after the fact I realized I had done it again. But, here is the problem. I got too concerned. RATS. I knew she was an unusual type. I was attracted to her and I got carried away, and when I tried to correct the situation, she shut down. Or so I thought. Note: Don't make repeated attempts to contact someone and assume they are ignoring you. It could be they are too busy to get back to you and each email, phone call, or text comes across as pure panic. Which, granted it was, but it was also a mere reaction to... the email I recieved from her the following morning. Yes, she didn't respond to the late night call, but I did get an email in the morning basically saying, we didn't have mutual senses in regards to affection. Which basically meant to me, I kissed to quickly. ( Or perhaps badly, I havent ruled that out. ) But either way, she essentially ended a potential relationship via email, and I went a little nutz. Okay, maybe a little more than " a little". But, in my defense, I hate it when I get dumped via email with an excuse that is incorrect. She assumed I enjoyed always making out in a parking lot, and that couldn't be further from the truth. But, she sent an email saying she didn't really see a need to see me again, and I over-reacted. A little. Well, in my opinion. Then, voila. I looked like a complete ass. Hard to recover from that. BUT, this time taught me. Yes, this time. Next time, if I find one with the "X" factor again. I will keep my mouth shut in many, many ways. It's time to learn the game of hard to get. I hate games, but I have become painfully aware of the fact that, the game is expected. And, in the same way the ex left me 20 grand in debt, sometimes ya just have to learn and move on. Sad but true. And Michelle and Liz, if you read this, I's still sorry and ... well... thanks for the lesson. Sorry for the faux pas. Oh well....

However, I still have time to say this...

When I visit Florida I always consider florida vacation rentals but until I do visit Florida again, you can usually find my butt seated in comfy commercial office chairs . I also am taking great care of my little kitty Fetz by using Pet Tags . And if the vice president had been playing with Paintball Guns , this would have been a boring week.

New things underway...

Pretty exciting things underway. Universal is in the middle of evaluations for it's performers. A group of suits telling us how we do. Mine was pretty painless, but I thought the same thing last time and suddenly became essentially unemployed, so we shall see... but I am feeling pretty positive. Disney has contacted me again about being a dwarf in their summer remount of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. My schedule is pretty insane this summer so I don't know if they will be able to make the schedule work, but I certainly hope so.
And, my drum team RePercussion at trashcandrummers.com is taking off... new shows new money, new drummers, same bat channel, same bat time.

Okay, so today, Im sitting at home, trying to get stuff underway. 14 days on the road right at the beginning of the year was nice, but I feel like I am two months behind. Im in rehearsal for a play...I've taped a commercial and had half a dozen auditions. Theme park shows are picking back up. Photography is picking up and the drum show as well. Only insects specialize and right now, I kind of wish I was one. Too many irons in the fire and all of them are too warm to pull a few out. But, who knows which one will get the hottest. I'm having a blast, don't get me wrong, but it would be nice to really settle into one. One big one. One seriously assume huge one. Then everything else would fall into place. The one man show. The books. The pictures.
Until then. Just keep doing what I do I guess.

I'm finally back. Dealing with jet lag. Odd hours. Lots of catching up to do.
I was performing with RePercussion. And now we are setting up our new website.
Trashcandrummers.com. Things are really happening with a very simple show.
We also have a competitor that has basically stolen our show. Well, bits and pieces anyway. They are also approaching all of our past performance spaces and under bidding us and trying to get all of our shows. It's kind of amusing actually. Competition is good, so that is fine, and this guy and band is really amusing. He is trying to take good clients away from us... and they are telling me all about it. Im running into drummers he has used and they are telling me about him and the show. It would be nice if he could find his own niche and maybe someday he will, but until then... I just keep playing and hearing about the "other guy" and... " who is he...?"
Someday he may replace us... but until then... maybe he can check out our new site and find out the gigs he can try to get next year. Until then, if you want to see our band... go to the site mentioned above...if you want to see his band... ask yourself why ... lol

A late Thanksgiving posting...

Well, due to what can only be described as an overdose of trytophan, it took me a bit of time to post my Thanksgiving tale.
This year, my plan to "give back" turned into a huge success. I found an ad, thru the popular website craigslist.org, telling me of a group that does a sort of grass roots "feed the homeless" and I followed up on it . Now, I didn't really push for details ( I'm a photographer, not a journalist ) but as near as I can tell, this was the name of the "project"....

and this is where we met on Sunset....
and this is what we did... in a sort of fire brigade fashion, food, which everyone supplied, was placed on plates. Huge amounts of food, Turkey, yams, potatoes, and gravy, etc. ( I manned the gravy...the one thanksgiving staple of which I have never been fond ). Tons of food... Well, technically maybe not tons of food, but no one counted.

then the plates of food where placed in bags, then placed in cars, and the bags were delivered to the homeless that the drivers found.

The energy was amazing. The feeling of helping was very obvious and the people in attendance were all great people. Some 500 plates of food went out and some people brought articles of clothing, blankets, and other household items that anyone without would appreciate. It was a great couple of hours and a great project.

Then, a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with friends, primarily short friends from the enchanted forest. Yeah, a few of snow white's dwarves. I was invited by a dear friend.... who is attacking the Turkey with a new electric knife...
An awesome dinner and an awesome day...

But, it's finally happened. Yeah, now we can be open, now that its in the tabloids. Jessica has left Nick. I feel bad for ya Nick, but, what can I say. Oh sure, there will be those that say I stole her from you. There will be those that say, she needs time alone. But, we love each other. We do. And love can't be wrong. Oh sure there are people that say she is stupid. I used to be one of those people, then I learned that conversations aren't important. Love is beyond that. Nick, some day you'll look back on losing Jessica and you will feel good. You will realize it was a good thing. I know I will. Until then , let us have our fun.
Let me be the first to say Merry Christmas everyone...and Jessica would also like to wish you all a happy new year, but she can't right now. I unfortunately placed her in a paper bag and asked her to sing her way out... I havent seen her for awhile. But for Christmas I am getting her a bucket for her tunes. It's sad. Right now she cant even carry a tune in a bucket, and I want her to be able to.

ARRGGHHH !!!!!! Okay, approximately seven days left and I just hit the halfway point... I'm not feeling overly confident. But, I do know I will finish. The real gripe I have write now, is the laptop I am writing on...was a cheap one I got through an auction site... which in pig latin is... ummm..ebay... I guess.. Drat. Umm anyway to make a long story short, somehow it is unable to accept a spell check into the programming. So... even as I type I know that near day 30th...I have to do a major spell check. Oops. And the REAL bite is... the letter "t" tends to duplicate itself consistently, leading to words like : hesitttantttly, bittter. So, spell check won't be fun. At all. But I must finish.

Three hours at Starbucks a night or so... and I will finish gracefully.

I am stunned. Yeah I didn't know the guy, but I did watch him wrestle just last week. He put on an awesome show. Just kind of one of those weird things. No results as to why yet, but either way, he is gone. Say what you want about the sports entertainment called professional wrestling, but this guy knew how to work a crowd. And he and Dave Batista ( pictured below in a seperate post ) put on one of the best matches I have ever seen. Eddie you will be missed.

Okay, so I am completely panicked and completely out of work. I am picking up the odd gig here and there, but not having a steady gig is truly frightening. Haven't been in this boat in a while. I did manage to book a nice commercial, so thats some money. I have been told I will be hosting a new segment on a local..possibly state wide program...but you can truly smell the smoke and see the mirrors in this gig. Which is my way of saying... it's..if not bogus... not going to be whats promised. I end up with more than my fair share of this kind of gig....

So..in my downtime I have a new past time....

New car..no money...and a recent slow down in all work. Lots of auditions, call backs and a pretty good run of photo gigs
( shutteropen.blogspot ) but... without income in coming I've been kind of stressed. Leading me to spend more time online...(yeah insomnia !) if it is indeed possible...to spend MORE time on here... but I do...
So, the cool thing about blogspot is the ability to surf by hitting "next blog " in the corner....

IT AIN'T OVER ???

Okay, so even though I have yet to post the story of the "HOW CLEAN IS YOUR HOUSE" taping, they called again today. They want to do an internet follow up. Meaning a taping to post on their internet site. YIKES.... Okay, so for the past few days I have had the flu or some bizarre allergy sinus thing. Last night an earache woke me up. I can't remember ever having that happen as an adult.

So, I'm wondering around my empty house at 230 a.m. feeling like a little kid wanting my mom. I have no medication nor knowledge of what to do for this ache. No caffiene free tea... No cold/sinus stuff, and a cat sleeping by my head that CAN'T be helping my sinuses. So, I take the dreaded NyQuil I find in my bathroom cabinet. I dont think it's past any expiration date, but to be honest, I don't care.... so ... to make a long story short... I'm buzzed all day from the giant Q... ( Dennis Leary says it better... check out his NyQuil rant ) and I'm not happy.

I have been sick so the house is a pig sty. I can't believe they want back in. They literally tore this house apart in an attempt to clean it.... ridiculous. So, now they want back in and there is no way I can return it to the immaculate and sterile condition they left it and much less do I want to....

I will post the airing date here for my faithful readers and I will post my side of it as well.. but let me say it here first.

They made it look as bad as it was...and when they fixed it.... they made it worse.

Thanks to my good friend Scott, I was able to attend WWE wrestling at the Staples Center here in LA.
Now ya see... I love professional wrestling... yeah yeah... I know. Did I mention I'm single ?

These guys and women... put on an awesome show. Truly top notch.From start to finish, over the top entertainment. From the dark shows to the final match, which, if you have never been to a taping, the last show...match... is a little unusual. Well, at least last Sunday, and I have to assume every show. This is the match that I have to assume made Owen Hart the hero to wrestlers that he was. Not a completely serious match, more for laughs and definitely more for show. Wrestlers are top notch athletes. They put their body on the line every single performance. It's an insult to say it's fake. Fake ?.... ummm sorry. Okay, scripted maybe, outcomes pre-planned... to a degree at least, but ... what a show. I'm not a big fan of professional sports. But, pro wrestling ? Sign me up.
And if any of the superstars, or want to be superstars out there read this... feel free to comment... and lets do it...you and me... street brawl. You bring the trash cans....

A new start...after a very bizarre audition last week... it's possible the career is gonna take a new twist. So... keep your eye on this space... Well, life gets interesting every now and then. Career has had a bit of an upswing... If ya dont know about a place called Hollygrove in LA... It's an incredibly special place. I was honored with the chance to perform there briefly this past week. It was an absolute blast and the kids were great. Not to mention, I met a whole new group of variety performers to connect with.
So.. because of some interesting connections thru that gig, a burst of potential greeted me. News to follow.
On the other side of things, I'm back on the road with RePercussion again next week and am looking forward to seeing Columbus, Ohio... STATE FAIR !
So...all in all..though its been the slowest summer for me in a number of years... finally there is a light at the end of the tunnel...

(So, the story continued.. During this duration of emails...I'm sending emails and making phone calls to Yahoo. They are the providers of Pompey's email. I am very pleased to hear once I send yahoo the required form it will take about two hours to shut this guy down.
Little did I know that it meant two hours from when they figured they would care....
So I sent Pompey a receipt from Western Union...and honestly I was concerned that this fraud would get me in trouble... but I figured since "I paid" for it with a forged check I was relatively safe. )

(And then I decide to write pompey a quick email....)

The date is nearly upon us.

I called the bank that " wrote the cashier's check. It was of course bogus. You can tell immediately that it is, for one thing, the address on the check had one too many numbers in the zip coded. Durn foreigners. Know I don't mean all foreigners to be durned, just the scam artists that don't understand our mailing system. The check is also missing any security mark, system, or credibility of any kind )

I won't even go into how silly the above email sounds. It actually is painful to read. Not the FBI part of it. But the actual sentence structure alone. ...It seems you are not okay with this stupid things u are playing with me... Now seriously, what does that mean ? And the FBI at my doorstep "ssonest."
I know of course that the FBI does get very involved with breaches of contracts for birthday parties. I watch all those cop shows so I know. What saddens me is, I have been in touch with the FBI computer division about Pompey, and to the best of my knowledge, they don't do anything. Apparently, there are a lot of these boneheads out there trying to scam people. I don't know anyone stupid enough to fall for it, but the guys perpetuating the scam aren't too bright. Then again, they have sponsors. I don't have a sponsor, so they must be doing something right. As near as I can figure, it's not one guy making a lot of money off of simple minded people. I am assuming Pompey is a simple minded person thinking this will work and he tries everywhere. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of Pompeys out there. Someone needs to find them and tell them that this scam doesn't work. Here in the states, if you want a good scam, you start a multi-level marketing company. So I wrote back... )
